AppTek to Present at SpeechTEK Conference on Utilizing Speech Technology to Understand Brain Injuries

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AppTek,
a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML),
Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Machine Translation (MT), today
announced it will present a session at the SpeechTEK
conference on how speech technology can be leveraged to better
understand brain injuries.

What:

AppTek and Mindsquare’s Presentation on Speech Technology and Brain
Injuries

Who:

Darius Ferdows, CEO and Co-Founder of Mindsquare

Where:

Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C.

When:

Monday, April 29 from 2:15p.m. – 3:00p.m. ET

During his talk, Darius will discuss how brain injuries have moved to
the forefront of health issues and concerns, largely highlighted by its
continuing presence in professional sports. This increased attention to
concussions has led Mindsquare
to partner with AppTek to answer the need for an immediate and more
accurate assessment method to identify brain injuries. Through the use
of AppTek’s Automatic Speech Recognition and Natural Language
Understanding technology, Mindsquare and AppTek were able to develop a
mobile device that can conduct a cognitive test where speech patterns
are analyzed in real time.

I have been familiar with the great work Mindsquare and AppTek have
been doing for some time. They are helping former professional athletes
and others to understand and deal with the concussion-related issues
they received while playing in professional sports. In addition, they
can help prepare these individuals for potential future issues,” said
Brig Owens former Washington Redskin. “With Mindsquare, former
professional players and their families can take the right steps to help
prevent more cognitive decline. The AppTek Technology is truly
remarkable and will help a number of former professional
football players and others deal with their cognitive issues and help
their quality of life.”

Through this device, AppTek’s speech recognition technology captures
fluctuations in tone, utterances, volume of speech, and other issues
that have never been analyzed for concussion research. The data
collected is then assessed in real time and is to be compared to a
previous baseline study. Once this data is compared, medical providers
are given the information to determine the presence of a brain injury.
