Cupertino Electric Names Brett Boncher Chief Operating Officer
Construction Executive to Lead Operations for $1.4 Billion Electrical Company
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#brettboncher–Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) today announced that former Senior Vice President of Operations Brett Boncher has been promoted to chief operating officer to oversee all operations functions for the 66-year-old national electrical engineering and construction company. Boncher spent the last 25 years at CEI in operationally-focused roles where he helped deliver some of the largest data center, renewable and commercial projects the company has built to date.
Boncher’s appointment to the chief operating officer role at CEI fills a vacancy created in 2018 when Tom Schott became president and chief executive officer. In the resurrected role, Boncher will be responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations, including overseeing its commercial, renewable, utility and data center project divisions.
“Brett has built his career on delivering complex projects and earning the trust of some of the industry’s most demanding customers,” said Schott. “He has a deep understanding of our operations and what it takes to successfully execute work anywhere in the U.S. While his business and industry knowledge are unparalleled, so is his commitment to CEI’s core values. Having worked alongside Brett for 25 years, I know how lucky we are to have him in this new role where he can have an even bigger impact on the business and our culture.”
About Brett Boncher
Since joining the company in 1995, Boncher has held a variety of project management, divisional and executive roles at CEI focused on delivering projects and advancing corporate-wide initiatives. He has overseen the company’s San Jose Commercial, Renewable and Data Center Divisions, growing data center revenue to roughly $500 million annually and delivering some of the largest projects in the United States in the last decade. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and has been trained in LEED and LEAN methods.
“I’m excited to join CEI’s C-suite in this new role and can’t wait to focus more closely on what I love most—successfully executing work that helps our customers grow their businesses,” said Boncher. “I’ve always loved uniting teams around a common goal to deliver projects that push the boundaries of safety, productivity and innovation. I look forward to leveraging operational efficiencies across all of our divisions in this new role so that we can expand CEI’s capabilities, geographic reach and customer base.”
