Garmin® quatix® 6X Solar wins at 2020 ICAST Online

New solar charging marine GPS smartwatch prevails in its category at the world’s largest recreational fishing trade show

OLATHE, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), the world’s leading marine electronics manufacturer1, today announced it earned “Best of Category” honors for its quatix 6X Solar marine GPS smartwatch at the industry’s most prestigious tradeshow, the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST), produced by the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) and held virtually this year, July 13-17. The quatix 6X Solar is the first marine-centric GPS smartwatch from Garmin to offer solar charging that uses the sun’s energy to extend battery life on water and land. It was voted the “Best Giftware” in the ICAST New Product Showcase by media and buyers in attendance.

This is the third year in a row that Garmin has received accolades at the ICAST New Product Showcase. Last year, Garmin won “Best Boating Accessory” and overall “Best of Show” for its Force trolling motor, and in 2018, Garmin claimed the “Best Electronics” as well as the “Best of Show” title for Panoptix Livescope, the first live scanning sonar for recreational fishing.

“The New Product Showcase at ICAST embodies the sportfishing industry’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, and we’re honored to add another category win to our growing list of accomplishments in this market,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “With the quatix 6X Solar, our customers can do what they love longer through significantly increased battery life and purpose-built marine functionality. That means they’ll have more on-wrist time to enjoy the water and the great outdoors, and that’s really the best gift of all.”

Built to withstand the elements, the quatix 6X Solar features a large 1.4” sunlight-readable display designed with a unique transparent Power Glasssolar charging lens that uses the sun’s energy to extend battery life. Users can quickly check the latest solar input right on their wrist for a real-time indication of how much solar energy the Power Glass has been exposed to. The battery performance on the quatix 6X Solar is up to 21 days in smartwatch mode, and up to 24 days with solar charging.2

Offering comprehensive connectivity, the quatix 6X Solar is compatible with Garmin chartplotters and other marine electronics to provide autopilot control, data streaming, SailAssist, Fusion-Link entertainment control and more. Thanks to its full marine-centric toolset, the quatix 6X Solar acts as a wearable instrument that, when paired with onboard Garmin electronics, can stream NMEA® 2000 boat data to give users access to important sensor information like speed, depth, temperature, wind data and more – right from their wrist, no matter where they are on the boat. It also supports optional BlueChart® g3 coastal charts and LakeVü inland maps with integrated Navionics® data.

With built-in activity profiles and performance metrics for paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, golf and many more, the quatix 6X Solar is ready to go the distance for nearly every sport and adventure. Doubling as a stylish smartwatch that can be worn 24/7, users can stay connected with smart notifications3, daily activity tracking4 and wrist-based heart rate4 monitoring for all-day stress tracking. The new quatix 6X Solar also features Garmin Pay contactless payment solution5 and on-device music storage of up to 2,000 songs, so users can sync playlists from several of the most popular music services6 to their watch for phone-free listening.

Available now, the quatix 6X Solar includes a titanium watch band as well as a cirrus blue silicone QuickFit band, for a suggested retail price of $1,149.99. Compatible marine products include: GPSMAP® 7×2/9×2/12×2 Plus, GPSMAP 10×2/12×2, GPSMAP 74/7600, GPSMAP 84/8600, GHC 20, GNX Wind and the GNT 10.
