Southwestern Health Resources Appoints Wendy L. Carver, Ph.D., as Chief Compliance Officer
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR), the clinically integrated network of UT Southwestern and Texas Health Resources, has appointed Wendy L. Carver, MBA, Ph.D., as Chief Compliance Officer. An Army veteran with 30 years of healthcare industry experience, Carver is known for her ability to help healthcare organizations amplify business efficiency while maintaining the focus on patients’ rights and needs. Before joining SWHR, Carver worked for several of the nation’s leading healthcare systems and health plans.
In her new role, Carver will be responsible for the multiple facets of compliance and ethics for North Texas’ largest provider network, including 29 hospitals, more than 250 ambulatory facilities and more than 5,000 primary care and specialty physicians, along with SWHR’s Medicare Advantage health plan Care ‘N Care. Regulatory and compliance requirements cover Medicare contracting and other managed care contracts, claims, information technology, provider relations, member services, grievances and appeals, quality, medical management and utilization management. She is a member of the organization’s Executive Team.

Before joining SWHR, Carver was Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer for PacificSource in Portland. She served in compliance and regulatory affairs leadership roles for three of the largest healthcare companies in the country, Tenet Healthcare Corporation, Centene Corporation and Health Net Inc. She also served in the U.S. Army for 10 years.
Carver earned her doctorate in performance psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2019. She earned her MBA in leadership and management from Ottawa University in 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from Ottawa University in 2005, with dual majors in psychology and human services.
Carver is active in many professional and community organizations. She is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association, American Psychology Association, the National Black MBA Association and the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She serves on the boards of directors and advisory boards of GlassSeats (chair), Morrison Child & Family Services, Applied Mindfulness Inc., The Now Group and Lifestyle Learning. She also is a faculty member for the University of the People.
