Esports Entertainment Group Applauds the Passage of Sports Betting Legislation in Ohio

Hoboken, New Jersey–(Newsfile Corp. – December 9, 2021) – Esports Entertainment Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMBL) (NASDAQ: GMBLW) (or the “Company”), an esports entertainment and online gambling operator, applauds the passage of Ohio House Bill 29 to legalize sports betting in the state, which has now been sent to Governor Mike DeWine for his signature. Importantly, the bill includes a provision that allows for wagering on professional eSports, creating a pathway to further leverage and monetize the Company’s Vie.gg wagering platform.

“The news of Ohio’s sports betting bill moving to the governor for his signature is a significant step forward for our Vie.gg wagering platform and our Company,” said Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment Group. “We’ve actively supported House Bill 29, working with Ohio legislators and a range of partners to ensure the inclusion of eports wagering in the legislation and are now prepared to play a key role in building a strong eSports gaming community in Ohio, the seventh most populous state in the US. We are also excited that the new legislation will allow us to advance our key partnerships with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, and leverage the opportunity for Esports Entertainment across Ohio.”
