Iron Mountain Announces Electric Vehicle Milestones on its Path to Net Zero
Commits to the Climate Group EV100 initiative
BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM), the global leader in innovative storage and information management services, has joined the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative and reached key milestones in electrifying its global vehicle fleet, continuing its journey to reach its Climate Pledge commitment to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2040. Iron Mountain, which operates a worldwide fleet of over 5,000 cars, vans and trucks has committed to transitioning 100% of company cars and 50% of vans to EVs by 2030, as part of EV100. As an initial step, the company has committed to converting 10% of its worldwide fleet to EV by 2025.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Iron Mountain to our EV100 initiative. As an award-winning member of RE100, Iron Mountain’s renewable energy achievements show leadership in action and serve as an example of how to grow business while reducing climate impact. We are excited Iron Mountain is now also embarking on its fleet electrification journey to address critical transport emissions and help accelerate the shift to EVs,” says Sandra Roling, Head of Transport at the Climate Group.
“As part of RE100, Iron Mountain committed to 100% renewable electricity worldwide. We have already achieved 80% from initiatives, including powering our data centers entirely with renewable energy,” said William Meaney, President and CEO of Iron Mountain. “Joining the EV100 advances that commitment and furthers our goal to reach net-zero emissions. We’ve already reduced our absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 60% since 2016 and electrifying our global fleet will accelerate that while allowing us to continue to secure a sustainable future for our customers.”
Iron Mountain began the electrification of its fleet a few years ago with 24 EV vans in the UK and continental Europe. As the next step in accelerating this journey, Iron Mountain has added an order for an additional 25 fully electric vans. These additional 25 vans will be placed in London, Germany, The Netherlands and in North America – initially serving customers in California, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
