Deckard Technologies Announces City and County Government Conference Schedule
As summer short-term rental market heats up, government technology and analytics provider will meet with public officials at leading conferences
ORLANDO, Fla. & SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AI—Deckard Technologies, a government-focused tech company that provides software, analytics and insights for communities to create tax fairness, is announcing it will be sponsoring and exhibiting at several conferences, including:
- Alabama City County Management Association (ACCMA), Orange Beach, AL, June 1-3
- The Annual Business Meeting of the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE), Orlando, FL, June 7-9
- California Association of County Treasurer and Tax Collectors (CACTTC), San Diego, June 7-10
- Municipal Association of South Carolina Annual Meeting (MASC), Charleston, SC, July 13-17
- The Florida Tourist Development Tax Association (FDTDA), Daytona Beach, FL, July 27-29
- The Florida League of Cities (FLC), Hollywood, FL, Aug 11-13
With its AI and advanced image analysis technology, Deckard gives local governments insights to manage short-term rentals (STRs), such as properties listed on VRBO and Airbnb, and recover mandated property and transient occupancy taxes that support schools, infrastructure, fire departments, safety and other important services. STR listings are on the rise in the U.S. overall, with average unique available listings expected to increase over 20% in 2022 from 2019 according to AirDNA.
“With the real estate boom in many residential areas and consumer demand for traveling and STRs on the rise, investors and others are increasingly looking to homes to be used as short-term rentals,” says Nick Del Pego, CEO of Deckard Technologies. “Where before, towns and cities may have relied on the honor system for property owners to obtain permits and pay mandated TOT taxes, many today are realizing the need for analytics and insights to ensure best policies for tax fairness and equity. At Deckard, we give them information to assess their thresholds to support the common good and make informed policy decisions.”
Deckard will showcase two software platforms at the tradeshows. Rentalscape simplifies and manages the short-term rental permit registration process, collects transient occupancy taxes (TOTs), and allows neighbors to report illegally-operating STRs, noise and trash issues. Propertyscape identifies property upgrades made without plans or permits on residential properties being used commercially.
Rentalscape, introduced in 2019, is already used by governments in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, New York, Colorado, among others.
