Carnegie Learning Triples High-Dosage Tutoring Team
Certified Math Instructors bridge the gap for districts at lower cost
PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#edtech—Carnegie Learning, a leading provider of K-12 education technology, curriculum, and professional learning solutions, today announced the company has tripled the number of certified math and ELA instructors to the national tutoring team.
The chronic teacher shortage continues to have a direct impact on school districts across the United States, with hundreds of thousands of vacancies. Many of the teachers entering the profession are coming through lateral entry, and facing regional shortages, US schools are now employing 160,000 emergency credentialed teachers.
According to the Brookings Institution, high-dosage tutoring has demonstrated direct positive results in student proficiency – particularly in math. Carnegie Learning has one of the largest and most qualified teams of math and ELA tutors in the country.
During the 2021-22 school year alone, Carnegie Learning Tutoring Services teachers served thousands of students in small group sessions across eight grade levels, all content aligned to the pacing and scope and sequence of the school district. Tutoring sessions directly supported what students were working on within the classroom. The typical (median) student experienced 30% growth from pre-assessment to post-assessment over 8 to 10 weeks of tutoring.
“We have a proven, accessible and affordable solution for school districts across the country,” said Carnegie Learning CEO Barry Malkin. “Our team is an extension of the classroom, designed to bridge the gap during a national teacher shortage in our nation’s schools. Our partnership with school districts helps bring support to students that traditionally has not been accessible to all of them. This includes access to certified teachers, many of whom are trained experts in using the very same instructional resources the students of our district partners use.”
Carnegie Learning believes that students can reach far beyond their perceived potential, academically as well as socially and emotionally. To help students achieve this we strive to bridge the gap between access to high-quality instructors, award-winning AI software, and high-quality instructional resources.
