This pathfinding program, hosted by Wuyi County’s Fairy Tale Office and organized by Zhejiang Children and Teenagers’ Publishing House (ZCTP), strives to bridge cultural gaps and unite global readers through the magical narratives of emerging Chinese children’s literature writers.

During the memorable event, key agreements were penned that lay the foundation for future translations, multi-language editions, and cultural exchanges focused on works by new-generation Chinese writers, including lauded authors Tang Tang and Heihe. These agreements are seen as essential steps in bringing the rich tapestry of Chinese fairy tales to wider international audiences.

Wuyi County has been at the forefront of brand cultivation for “Fairytale Wuyi,” transitioning from local folklore hub to a global fairy tale ambassador-a move that has now culminated in the “fairytale industry” and “fairytale publishing.” By positioning itself as a center for both cultural and creative industries, Wuyi is set to play a crucial role in the proliferation of Chinese children’s literature on the world stage.

The “2024 Chinese Fairy Tales Going Global” campaign reflects the county’s and the organizer’s commitment to promoting the enchanting world of indigenous storytellers across the globe. As part of the remarkable push, market cooperation programs target the vibrant and diverse audiences within “Belt and Road” countries and are expected to reach even into the influential mainstream markets of Europe and the United States.
