Federal Hall Policy Advisors Welcomes Len Wolfson as a Partner

Former Acting FHA Commissioner and HUD Assistant Secretary Strengthens Firm’s Offerings for the Housing and Mortgage Industries

Wolfson’s Track Record of Working Across the Aisle Aligns with Fed Hall’s Bipartisan, Bicameral Advocacy Focus

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Federal Hall Policy Advisors, LLC (“Fed Hall”), a leading bipartisan government relations firm for the corporate, financial and housing industries based in Washington, D.C., today announced that Len Wolfson has joined the firm as a Partner after recently serving as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) and Acting Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (“FHA”).

Mr. Wolfson brings more than two decades of housing policy experience to Fed Hall, with a particular focus on government-sponsored enterprise (“GSE”) reform and industry regulation. Prior to being unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary at HUD in 2017, Mr. Wolfson served as Associate Vice President for Legislative Affairs at the Mortgage Bankers Association. In that capacity, he was responsible for formulating the mortgage industry’s legislative agenda and representing more than 2,200 members on Capitol Hill on a wide array of issues, ranging from housing finance reform to tax policy.

We are thrilled to welcome Len and begin working alongside him as the housing policy paradigm shifts in the months to come,” said Cliff Roberti and Doug Nappi, Co-Founders of Fed Hall. “Regardless of the election outcome, there will be significant changes across the legislative and regulatory landscapes that will alter the course of GSE reform and other matters of importance to the housing industry. We look forward to helping our clients navigate this environment and share their views on both sides of the aisle.”

As a former congressional staffer, I always admired Len’s emphasis on bringing all the parties to the table and seeking out pragmatic solutions,” added Chris Matthiesen, Principal at Fed Hall. “That philosophy aligns perfectly with Fed Hall’s bipartisan advocacy focus.”

The next several years will be transformative for America’s housing sector,” said Mr. Wolfson. “I’m thrilled to be joining a firm that has become a top choice for financial services companies seeking specialized advocacy support, and I’m looking forward to helping our clients have an impact on the policy changes ahead.”

Mr. Wolfson also served at HUD during the George W. Bush Administration as the General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations. He oversaw the Administration’s successful efforts to modernize FHA as part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. He began his political career in 1996 on the staff of Representative Christopher Shays (R-CT), whom he served for eight years.

Mr. Wolfson is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

The addition of Mr. Wolfson marks the beginning of Fed Hall’s efforts to build out its senior leadership and expand the scope of diversified, bipartisan counsel its growing client base is seeking. According to Bloomberg Government, Fed Hall ranked #6 in terms of year-over-year revenue growth amongst all U.S. lobbying firms in 2019.
