Stacey Honowitz’s Appearance at Breakthrough Miami’s Career Day

Stacey Honowitz, Assistant State Attorney and Prosecutor for the Broward State Attorney’s Office was proud to impart her experiences and advice at career day, as presented by the community-oriented children’s education organization Breakthrough Miami.

MIAMI, FL / ACCESSWIRE / March 30, 2021 / Assistant State Attorney Stacey Honowitz was honored and delighted to accept an invitation from Breakthrough Miami to speak and answer questions at its 2021 career day, an event designed to expose students to potential professions available to those who work hard and dream big. The event took place on March 23, 2021.

During her presentation, Stacey recounted her own personal journey from starting out as an ordinary but promising student to reaching her current position as a public servant and prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney. She also made an impassioned speech highlighting the grave seriousness and need to take action against the abuse and sexual assault of minors, crimes with which she is all too familiar, as the Florida state government has seen fit to make it her responsibility to investigate and prosecute them. Stacey then fielded questions from students on a wide variety of topics.

Breakthrough Miami is a children’s education program that serves 1,300 middle and high school-aged students at six locations in the Miami metropolitan area. Often characterized as ‘students teaching students’, Breakthrough Miami employs university and college students to conduct lessons and provide mentorship for its roster of younger, at-risk students. The organization observes a mandate of serving under-resourced and academically minded children. Acceptance into Breakthrough Miami is based on a set of criteria that favors the economically disadvantaged, ethnic, and racial minorities, those coming from single-parent households, and those whose primary language is not English.

It was Stacey’s monumental pleasure to engage with this gathering of promising Miami-area youth. In the future, she hopes Breakthrough Miami will invite her to return and speak again.
