The professional educator sat down to discuss his new role as a Teacher on Special Assignment and the importance of cultural responsiveness in the classroom.
ROCHESTER, NY / ACCESSWIRE / June 25, 2021 / It is with great enthusiasm that veteran professional educator Caston Binger announces that he is featured in a new in-depth interview. The interview, which was conducted by journalist Joey Claudio on behalf of an online periodical dealing with matters relating to health and wellness, was published on June 22, 2021.
Early on in the interview, by way of answering a question about how he spends a typical workday, Caston Binger goes into great detail about the scope of his new role. “There is no typical day for me as a Teacher on Special Assignment because I am there to support others in a leadership role. I do not work in the classroom, but rather I am involved in projects that support students and teachers within the entire school. This can include observing teachers in the classroom and providing valuable feedback on classroom management, staying up to date on instructional matters, and looking for ways to improve the school,” he explains. From there, Caston elaborates by providing an example of one of his latest projects, saying, “I was recently involved in setting up a virtual science fair. I was able to use some of our technological resources, such as pictures, video, and Google slides, to display the students’ science fair projects in a virtual way so they could feel involved in the science fair and learn from each other’s projects virtually. It was a group effort, but it was my responsibility to gather all of that information and organize and create a presentation for our school community.”
Further along in the piece, upon being asked what educational trends excite him the most, Caston Binger replies, “I don’t consider this to be a trend, but I am excited to see more schools and school districts focus on cultural responsiveness in the classroom,” adding, “I also appreciate the discussions that are taking place around inclusivity, social injustices, and the economic inequalities our students and their families face on a day-to-day basis.”

About Caston Binger
Caston Binger is an educator hailing from Niagara Falls, New York. After high school, Caston enrolled in the State University of New York at Cortland, where he went on to earn a BA in Elementary Education and then an MA in Educational Supervision and Administration. He also played on the school’s varsity basketball team and participated in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship run of 2000. The team also appeared in that year’s Division III ‘Sweet Sixteen’ tournament.
For the past decade and a half, Caston Binger has been an elementary classroom teacher for the Rochester City School District. Recently, he has shifted gears into a leadership position as a Teacher on Special Assignment for his elementary school. While he is no longer in the classroom, his new role allows him to support all students in the school. Caston Binger went back to school in May of 2021, earning a second MA, this time with a special focus on School Leadership, from Niagara University.
