Dan Lok Giving Scholarship Will Be Awarding Two Winners In This Year’s Round Of Applicants
The Dan Lok Giving Scholarship for the school year 2020-2021 has recently announced its winners for the program. Two winners, named Robert Byron Megehee and Rachelle Roubos, have won the recent deliberations for the financial grant.
VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / July 30, 2021 / Successful entrepreneur Dan Lok recently opened a scholarship program for aspiring college students who want to finish their higher education degrees. Recently, the Dan Lok Giving Scholarship decided to award two winners in their program. The two winners are first place, Robert Byron Megehee from Trident Technical College and runner-up Rachelle Roubos from Pima Community College.
A college education is something that can quickly change the course of someone’s life. Having certification and formal proof of one’s knowledge and expertise is still something that’s valuable in a competitive job marketplace. As fulfilling as having a college degree may seem, unfortunately, not all students have the resources to achieve this goal.
Dan Lok’s scholarship aims to help students who face numerous challenges achieve their academic and professional goals. Recently, the program announced two winners who will be receiving the financial grant by the fall semester of 2021.
All entries were required to answer the question: “What is a difficult situation that you have been faced with, and how did you overcome it?”
The first winner receiving $1,000, Robert Byron Megehee from Trident Technical College, explained his situation’s circumstances, such as losing both his parents and battling Epilepsy.
“When I was twelve years old, my father passed away from diabetes. Since my parents had divorced when I was very young, I had to get to know my mom after leaving everything I knew behind,” he explained.
‘I began that difficult trek from my home in Oklahoma to start rebuilding my life in the state of North Carolina. It was a few years after my father passed away that I received word one day after coming home from school that my mother had passed away; I was 16,” Robert continued in his essay.
“Despite many setbacks, I managed to be able to climb. One of the most difficult problems that I faced down (and still deal with to this day) is Epilepsy. Epilepsy has tried to have its way with me since I was 11 years old but will never halt me on my journey to success for both myself and my family,” he concluded. Robert will be continuing as a sophomore in his college, completing his degree in Aircraft Maintenance.
The second winner receiving $500, Rachelle Roubos from Pima Community College, explained her struggles with Multiple Sclerosis and how she is facing her days courageously.
“Life itself gives out many challenges on a daily. The toughest part is the challenge you face within yourself to overcome all of it,” Rachelle mentioned.
“After five long months of fighting and battling these attacks, I had answers. Since I found these answers, I made the decision to keep fighting this battle. To this day, I have gotten the right treatment and continue to receive this treatment daily to battle this disease. Thankfully for my decision to not give up, I have been able to live another day without major disabling conditions because I was given the right treatment,” she concluded. Rachelle continues to inspire with her fighting spirit as she finishes her degree in Health Information Technology.
