Segra Announces Upgraded Hosted Voice with Webex to Power Today’s Hybrid Work Model

Segra and Cisco Partnership Launches Go-Forward Communication and Collaboration Platform

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, Segra, one of the largest independent fiber infrastructure companies in the Eastern U.S., announced its new Segra Hosted Voice with Webex offering. This latest solution builds on Segra’s existing hosted voice unified communications & collaboration (UC&C) product and provides users with a highly collaborative and secure offering for today’s distributed workforce.

With businesses having to quickly pivot to a work from home mode in 2020 and with most still offering employees a hybrid working model, organizations are looking for a complete collaboration solution that is flexible, secure and collaborative. Segra developed Hosted Voice with Webex to help them accomplish this with video meetings, messaging and call-from-anywhere, that’s required in today’s work environment.

Dan Watts, Chief Operating Officer at Segra stated, “Over the past year, many organizations quickly chose a technology to enable a distributed workforce. Now companies are re-evaluating these initial quick-fix solutions to determine if they are a long-term solution that meets its needs. We strongly believe that this latest UC&C product, backed by a strong partner, such as Cisco, will meet the needs of enterprises and government agencies.”

Segra’s latest Hosted Voice with Webex offering was developed to meet long-term communications needs, by offering two product suites – “Voice with Webex” and the “Collaboration with Webex” – that provide companies with a set of options to meet the diverse needs of their modern enterprises.

“Building on our mutual vision to delight the small to medium business customer, Cisco is thrilled to join with Segra to deliver Segra Hosted Voice with Webex. With fully integrated Webex technology, Segra Hosted Voice users will experience a modern, all-in-one collaboration tool that delivers simple, flexible communications, making their businesses more productive and more secure, with any device from anywhere,” said Tony Lopresti, Cisco’s Director Product Management, Webex.

Voice with Webex Seat options

  • Standard – allows users to seamlessly transition calls between devices without interruption. This is possible with standard unified communications capabilities (e.g., voicemail to email, and softphone for calling via mobile and desktop) while also supporting call control, call through and callback functions in the client.
  • Professional –ensures that users can work on-the-go from anywhere and access the best of UC features. It includes all Standard seat functions, plus instant messaging and presence (IM&P) features, direct and group messaging, 25-way space meetings and more.

Collaboration with Webex Seat options

  • Professional Plus – meets the demands of a wide variety of meeting participants both within and outside of their organization. This option includes the advanced UC functions of the Professional seat (softphone and messaging) and a highly secure Group Space to host voice and video conferences, engage in multi-party chat, and share desktops or applications for up to 100 people. Users can also utilize a dedicated personal meeting room with their own conference bridge for up to 100 participants.
  • Premium – ideal for an organization’s executives, department leaders and business unit heads who require advanced collaboration features. It’s designed for the end-user who needs meeting room features such as meeting recording, remote desktop control, presenter controls and recording transcription services. It includes the Professional + seat that allows for up to 1,000 meeting participants and integrates seamlessly with applications including Zendesk.

“As we’ve seen our customers’ needs evolve, Segra’s Hosted Voice with Webex has been developed specifically with them in mind to enable their employees to be collaborative in a secure online platform,” said Watts. “While the capabilities of these four seat packages have existed in various forms, the end-users’ ability to collaborate remotely has been enhanced. With this upgraded offering, end-users now have access to a highly complementary and customizable set of features in a single combined offering.”
