Turab Musayev: Thoughts on China’s First LNG Bunkering Vessel

LNG Bunkering Vessel in Vessel: SOCAR Trading Expert Turab Musayev Shares Insight

LONDON, UK / ACCESSWIRE / March 25, 2021 / Turab Musayev has had a long history in commodities and extensive expertise in natural gas, electricity, LNG trading, and infrastructure projects. His attention is on the port city of Dalian in China where the first bunker vessel for liquefied natural gas (LNG) was recently launched. Able to bunker large crude, large container, bulk, and very large ore containers, the vessel is around 4,500 sq. ft. and the first of its kind in the country.

A Breakthrough
The vessel (dubbed XIN AO PU TUO HAO) is owned by ENN Group and considered a turning point in ship-to-ship fuel transport for China. For now, it’s designed to deliver LNG to active ships in East China waters, including the province of Zhejiang (population 57 million). This bunkering vessel is available to both domestic and international ships and will primarily be operating from the Zhoushan LNG receiving terminal.

Business-Friendly
The Zhejiang province has made serious strides in the past few years to create a better environment for its many professional partners. Considering the size of the province and the popularity of the Zhoushan terminal, there were countless opportunities to both streamline the fueling process and drive profits. The goal is to make Zhoushan a natural stop for any carrier.

Turab Musayev knows that it’s the local stakeholders who are driving these improvements. The long-term results will depend on how well Zhoushan can leverage its current trading position and infrastructure. This vessel is just part of the province’s efforts. As more amenities are added for businesses all over the world, the terminal has the potential to see serious gains.

A Rise in Bunkering Centers
There’s a lot to be said for the ingenuity of ENN’s new bunkering vessel in China, but Turab Musayev knows this is a general trend in the region. When the International Maritime Organization tightened up the emissions in the Asia Pacific region, companies had to adapt or risk large fines. Because LNG reduces emissions, it’s become more of a staple in the area.

This has led to more bunkering vessels operating in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. It’s also sparked a fair amount of competition between bunkering firms, all of which want to be number one in the top ports.

Turab Musayev: Policies and Potential
The bunkering vessel has been launched, but it’s not in full operation yet. ENN is working closely with authorities to ensure that they’re meeting all policies and regulations before debuting its full capabilities. As the standards are ironed out and finalized, this is expected to make big waves through the industry. ENN has listed LNG as being its top choice in lieu of conventional fuels, and Turab Musayev knows why. When the eventual goal is carbon neutrality for the planet, LNG can go a long way toward getting us there.
