ConnectMaine Authority Adopts VETRO’s Broadband Intelligence Platform

The company’s Broadband Manager platform will be used by the Authority to maximize the impact of state and federal funds and facilitate state-wide broadband expansion

PORTLAND, ME / ACCESSWIRE / May 6, 2021 / VETRO Inc., a software company delivering unparalleled internet infrastructure intelligence™ through a unique mapping platform, announced today that it has been awarded a significant contract from the ConnectMaine Authority, a public agency of the Maine State government whose mission is to facilitate the universal availability of broadband across the state.

VETRO will be the platform of record for ConnectMaine to leverage as a central hub for all planning, mapping, and infrastructure data and provide easy collaboration across the ecosystem of stakeholders with transparency, accountability, scalability, efficiency and impact.

The announcement today comes on the heels of Maine Governor Janet Mills’ recently unveiled $150 million proposal to improve the state’s high-speed internet access. ConnectMaine will be a part of a new broadband authority to coordinate use of funds in Maine.

“Reliable access to high-speed broadband will transform Maine’s workforce development, education, health care, and communities. But our success depends on access to information,” said Peggy Schaffer, Executive Director of ConnectMaine Authority. “VETRO’s Broadband Intelligence Platform delivers next-level data that we can easily operationalize to drive our decision-making. It gives all stakeholders real-time visibility, transparency, and accountability. It ensures that we are maximizing the impact of our investments to benefit our communities.”

VETRO’s suite of tools for state broadband initiatives goes well beyond mapping, delivering a combination of software, services, and data tailor-made for statewide connectivity initiatives like the ConnectMaine project. Based on GIS to enable unprecedented flexibility and insight, VETRO transforms large sets of disparate data into seamless network plans, ROI reporting, transparent public resources and a comprehensive picture of digital divide successes and continued needs.

“This is a transformational moment for the U.S. and the state of Maine,” said Will Mitchell, VETRO CEO and Co-founder. “We are at a turning point driven by the largest investment in communications infrastructure in the history of our nation. As a Maine-based company, VETRO is honored to support the work of ConnectMaine to make the most of this moment on behalf of all Mainers.”

The state of Maine has set a goal of expanding the availability of broadband to connect 95% of potential subscriber locations by 2025.
