RockBox Fitness Announces Partnership with Nonprofit “To Write Love on Her Arms”

HUNTERSVILLE, NC / ACCESSWIRE / December 8, 2021 / RockBox Fitness, a rapidly expanding state-of-the-art group fitness concept that combines boxing, kickboxing, and functional training, believes that fitness is as impactful on mental health as it is on physical health. That’s why the high-energy fitness franchise has partnered with “To Write Love on Her Arms,” a nonprofit dedicated to offering hope to those struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury, and thoughts of suicide.

RockBox Fitness announced the charity partnership with To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) at its 3rd Annual Amplify Summit this fall. The company set a goal to raise $100,000 for the organization in 2022 through various fundraising efforts and campaigns via participation from the company’s fast-growing, nationwide network of franchisees and passionate members.

“I know our franchise family and our members will rally behind TWLOHA’s mission and proudly play a role in supporting those who are struggling,” says RockBox Fitness CEO Roger Martin. “RockBox Fitness has helped countless people reach their weight loss goals, but we know it’s helped as many, if not more people improve their mental health. Countless members have shared emotional stories with me about how focusing on fitness saved their life or helped them through a difficult time, and we hope this partnership helps highlight the role exercise can play in overall mental health.”

The National Institutes of Health writes, “Exercise is a behavioral intervention that has shown great promise in alleviating symptoms of depression.” And many adults are looking for solutions.

An estimated 26% of American adults suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder each year, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. Mounting research indicates the powerful, positive impact physical activity can offer to the 1 in 4 struggling U.S. adults. A 2021 review of 1,158 studies on the topic revealed 89% of those studies found a statistically significant, positive association between exercise and mental health.

“To Write Love on Her Arms is so excited to partner with Rockbox for 2022,” says Amber Gardner, TWLOHA Director of Partnerships. “At TWLOHA we believe in the connection between mental and physical health. We often encourage others to move for something that matters – your mental health. We believe in moving our bodies to celebrate recovery, to honor loved ones, and to help others start their own journeys of healing. We are proud to stand with the Rockbox community and hold a banner of hope as we remind each other and ourselves, that there is strength in our stories.”

RockBox Fitness will organize two fundraising events next year for TWLOHA, one in the spring and one in the fall, in order to reach its $100,000 contribution goal. The company will also sell branded apparel featuring TWLOHA’s messaging year-round, which serves a dual purpose as a fundraiser for the nonprofit and a conversation starter about its mission for those who wear the gear. “When considering a charity partner, we knew we wanted to find an organization that aligns with our company’s edgy personality and shares our core value to improve people’s lives,” Roger adds. “To Write Love on Her Arms was the perfect match for us.”
