CACI Receives DoD Nunn-Perry Awards for Mentor-Protégé Excellence with CDIT

RESTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CACI International Inc (NYSE: CACI) announced today that the Department of Defense has selected the company to receive a prestigious Nunn-Perry Award for excellence in the DoD Mentor Protégé Program. This honor recognized CACI’s collaboration with its small business partner, CDIT, a small, disadvantaged business located in Louisiana that provides full-scale information technology and management services with a focus on software development competency.

Dan Cuviello, CACI Senior Vice President of Business Development, said, “We are extremely proud of CDIT’s recent successes and CACI’s role in supporting this up-and-coming company’s growth. CACI is committed to supporting the DoD’s critical missions and introducing them to new businesses that can help them achieve their goals.”

Under CACI’s mentorship in fiscal year 2022, this Mentor-Protégé agreement has positively expanded the industrial base for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) mission of delivering global logistics and quality of life support to the Navy and Joint warfighter. Through this partnership, CACI has helped CDIT grow its workforce by more than 188% and increase its annual gross revenues by 323%.

CDIT has also added nine new federal customers and was awarded multiple prime contracts with new customers. During the partnership with CACI, CDIT earned four key industry certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 27001, HUBZone, and CMMI-DEV Level 3. CACI also partnered with Morgan State University to provide valuable mentoring services such as strategic planning and quality management training to achieve these certifications.

Wayne Pizer, CACI Executive Director of Small Business, said, “CACI has developed a preeminent roadmap for our Mentor-Protégé Program, which includes invaluable training partnerships with leading institutions like Morgan State University. These efforts have resulted in CACI winning Nunn-Perry Awards for its past five DoD mentor-protégé agreements.”

Bill Henley, CEO of CDIT, said, “The DoD Mentor Protégé Program has been instrumental in helping us grow in every area of our business and position ourselves to better serve the needs of the DoD. We are very grateful to CACI for their leadership and guidance.”

The DoD Mentor Protégé Program was established in 1990 in response to concerns raised by DoD prime contractors regarding their inability to meet Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) subcontracting goals.

The award is named for the contributions of Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, both of whom played critical roles in the implementation of the DoD Mentor Protégé Program.

The program has since expanded, providing developmental assistance to Women-Owned Small Businesses, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and others.
