Vcinity Announces General Availability of the Vcinity Access Object Solution and Enhancements for Ultimate X File Service Products

Vcinity named a Representative Vendor in 2022 Gartner® Market Guide for Hybrid Cloud Storage, Shortlisted for 2022-2023 Cloud Awards

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#cloud–Vcinity, a leader in instant, global access to file and object data in hybrid cloud environments, announced the general availability of its Vcinity Access™ object offering and version R3.2.3 of its Ultimate X™ (ULT X) file service solution. The company was recently included in the 2022 Gartner® Market Guide for Hybrid Cloud Storage as a Representative Vendor in “hybrid cloud platform and data transfer.” Vcinity was also shortlisted this month for the 2022-2023 Cloud Awards.

Vcinity Access allows cloud native applications that use Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) from Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Amazon S3-compliant object storage to remotely access and instantly operate on that data across hybrid or distributed cloud environments, with local-like performance. Vcinity Access features include:

  • Three-node HA VM scale-out cluster, offering high, more scalable performance for hybrid on-prem (VMware ESXi) and AWS environments
  • Deployment automation and integration into common cloud and on-prem automation platforms
  • Robust diagnostic capabilities using real-time advanced monitoring virtual sensors and visualization tools

Organizations can use Vcinity Access to unlock new or enhance outcomes of existing workloads—such as enriching insights and actions of analytics workflows, permitting faster (access upon creation) and more cost-effective machine learning training, or innovating on new ways to quickly derive value from edge data. Marquee partners, such as big data analytics platform vendor Vertica leverage Vcinity to do just that.

“Vertica delivers the best value for the highest performance of any data analytics platform, at any scale, anywhere,” said Jeff Healey, vice president of marketing. Vertica Product Group at Micro Focus. “Vcinity’s Hybrid Cloud Solution for Vertica, which was recently announced, enables our customers to extend the reach of their applications to the data from cloud to on-prem to anywhere—to drive better, faster intelligent insights and action.”

Key to usability of Vcinity’s technology and solutions is a non-disruptive deployment, due in part to its seamless integration across many industry-leading hardware and software platforms. This allows Vcinity’s customers to enhance the flexibility and performance of their existing infrastructure. For example, an organization can instantly execute an analytics application in a Vertica Eon cluster on AWS that taps into data located both on-premises, as well as stored in another AWS Region simultaneously.

The company is also announcing the latest release, R3.2.3, of its Ultimate X™ (ULT X) file service solution, which includes hardware clustering support (allowing for scale out while providing enhanced failover and reliability), Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (Amazon EC2) F1 instance support (allowing for scale up in the cloud with performance on-premises), advanced automation and API support, and file system enhancements (for finer levels of tuning and performance control). This makes it even easier for Vcinity’s customers to experiment with new AWS cloud services while using data stored in another AWS Region, have their AWS machine learning applications operate on data as soon as it’s created, or augment application architectures they’ve already deployed on AWS.

“Today’s organizations don’t have time to let distance limit their access to data,” said Russel Davis, chief operating officer and chief product officer at Vcinity. “By adding Amazon S3 to the Vcinity portfolio, as well as continuing to release compelling feature sets for our existing solutions, Vcinity is changing the way organizations can consume data. Now organizations can make strategic infrastructure decisions based on their preferred way to derive value from their file and object data—without being restricted by its location.”
