Hailing from the state of Ohio in the USA, Brad Thomas was already involved with businesses during his youth. He explains, “I come from a family of five generations of successful business owners. I grew up in our family business, Thomas Music, at a very young age. I had the unique advantage of learning about every aspect of what it takes to operate a successful business. We had an impeccable reputation in our community for services we provided for families with musical instruments and teaching. Many students who frequented our store went on to have successful careers!”

This experience with successful business at a ripe age led Brad to apply for a sales position in Kraft Foods right after college. Beginning as a sales representative, Brad steadily moved up the ranks and eventually became responsible for national and regional supermarket chains. In a successful sales career that lasted 34 years, Brad says that there was nothing like it, “I don’t believe there is any other opportunity I could’ve found that would’ve matched what I learned in my career at Kraft. It was a great experience working with so many customers, as we were the largest food manufacturer and had such a direct impact on their success in the marketplace.”

When asked what led him to leave his successful career in Kraft Foods, Brad answered, “I wanted to do something completely different from my 34 years working with Kraft Foods retailers. I’ve been involved in business my whole life. What I’ve found is that I enjoy business more than anything else I could participate in. Also, I wanted to give back to all the individuals who generously helped me through my career. So, helping professionals become business owners was the most noble thing I could accomplish after retiring from Kraft. I’m naturally curious about learning how companies operate in the marketplace. It’s fun to go discover businesses that I could add to my portfolio and make available for my clients. I feel like I’m learning new skills or ways of competing in business, as it’s changing at a rate faster than any time in history. I enjoy watching industries grow.”

Following his departure from Kraft, Brad founded Franchise Empowerment nine years ago to “help professionals transition careers and give clients the franchise that matches their unique personality, skill-set, interests, and background. I was surprised how little knowledge professionals have about business ownership, therefore my role in helping clients find the right franchise also includes providing education on what it takes to be successful.”

Brad further expounds on how the process works, “Most individuals need professional guidance to help navigate their search for a fitting franchise. As a certified franchise broker and entrepreneur, I educate and coach individuals through the investigative process step-by-step. I take my clients through a personality profile, a number of interviews, and train them throughout the franchise reward process on what it means to be a successful franchisee.
